Investigating the feasibility of integrated urban management in Tehran

Abstract

Integrated urban management is a kind of management integrated in one or more separated fields. Managerial science, planning science, political science and Sociology fields. The first field is related to inter-organizational co-ordination and collaboration. In the field of planning science, we see the emergence of strategic spatial planning as a planning tool, and the governance idea which has entered the concept of general planning and management as an inclusive concept, is a product of political science and sociology. For successful management of a metropolitan area, you cannot use separate management and part-based directors. If any of the city's administration elements decide based on their own authority and look at the city form their own point of view, the inconsistencies in decision makings will lead to huge problems in major scale, and we can say that a portion of the current issues is a result of this disparity. Principally, integrated urban management is a prerequisite for the city management and an efficient element of its development. The study of feasibility of forming integrated urban management in the municipality of Tehran is considered as the main goal of this paper. In this article, issues such as the lack of coordination between the government and the municipality of Tehran and the waste of resources of the country due to this lack of coordination, shortcomings in law and regulations in this field, inappropriate position of integrated urban management in Iran compared to other countries and the provision of services electronically will be examined.
